#IVORYBELONGSTO ELEPHANTS

We continue to take this message ” Ivory belongs to elephants ” to our communities in their villages. 2015 comes early as we begin a 430km stretch passing in three counties Makueni, Kajiado and Taita Taveta in 29 days of walking and talking to the communities along the designated route. The greatest challenge in this Amboseli- Tsavo landscape is land sub-division that negate the livelihoods , wildlife and environmental conservation.

Its recorded that Amboseli has at least 1200 elephants and has recorded very scanty cases of poaching unlike Tsavo. Tsavo use to accomodate close to 45,000 elephants in late 70’s and currently we have 11,076 according to the latest KWS aerial survey 2014, this population has reduced from 12,700 in 2011 and its viewed that poaching among other caused the population decrease.
